Planning Food for 15 Guests
What 15 guests actually means for your kitchen
Fifteen guests is the largest party you can still run out of a normal home kitchen without changing how you cook. One oven, one fridge, and a single shopping trip cover it: a typical cart holds the whole order, and standard mixing bowls and sheet pans handle full batches. Plan one main, two sides, and one dessert, and you can cook everything the same day.
The one adjustment worth making is seating and plates. Fifteen is past the point where everyone fits at one table, so plan for plates that can be eaten from a lap or a counter. Skip anything that needs carving or last-minute assembly; you will not have counter space for it once drinks and sides are out.
For the general rules behind these numbers (the 1-pound-per-adult baseline, how to mix mains and sides, and when to add a buffer), see Party Food Planning 101 or the serving size chart.
